The armour generally goes against the Combat triangle and doesnt follow the same stat distribution as similar Ranged armours. barrows has better stats but using that for normal training is a waste, the repairs tend to eat your profit, i only use it on high lvl melee slayer tasks, and even then i only use guthans normally to heal if my bunyip can't cope anymore, i do use bandos and dragonfire shield tho, so my def is already quite high, bandos and dragonfire shield should be your armour aim I think, expensive but very much worth it, better def then dragon and whatever shield you have and str bonusses as an added extra.
